ABOUT US

  • Weekly rehearsals in central Glasgow, in 8-10 week terms

  • Concerts in inspiring venues (next concert Cottiers Theatre on 30 August)

  • Contemporary vocal music and original arrangements

  • Pop, indie, acoustic, folk and electronic-inspired repertoire

  • Festival appearances and pop-up performances

  • A supportive, social and ambitious musical community

We focus on contemporary ensemble singing that feels exciting, expressive and collaborative.

Whether you want to sing purely for the love of it, develop your musicianship, or gain more performance experience, Glasgow Choir offers a place to grow.

Repertoire

Our repertoire leans towards contemporary pop, alternative, indie, folk-inspired and electronic music, alongside occasional reimagined classics and nostalgic throwbacks.

Reference artists include Billie Eilish, Bon Iver, Florence + The Machine, Hozier and Phoebe Bridgers, as well as occasional pop, classic and folk songs.

We rehearse both from scores and by ear. Strong musical instincts and confidence singing in harmony are more important than formal training, and sight-singing is not essential.

STANDARD

Glasgow Choir is designed for people who want a little more from a choir experience - high-quality music-making, meaningful performances, creative collaboration and genuine community.

At the centre of the project is the belief that excellent music and a welcoming atmosphere should go hand in hand.

In order to join you must have sung in a choir or vocal ensemble before, though not necessarily a high-level choir. Glasgow Voices is a good next step for those progressing from University choirs and non-auditioned community choirs.

Performing opportunities

The choir will work towards regular performances throughout the year, including:

  • Concerts in unique Glasgow venues

  • Community and charity events

  • Festival appearances

  • Collaborative creative projects

  • Informal showcases and pop-ups

Members may also have opportunities to connect with wider professional projects and affiliated choirs through the broader creative network surrounding the project.

Where and when?

We rehearse weekly in central Glasgow on a weekday evening. Terms typically run in blocks, and regular attendance is encouraged to help the ensemble develop a strong shared sound and community.

Full rehearsal details and upcoming performance dates will be announced soon.

TO APPLY

We current welcome strong singers across all voice parts.

To apply, please send:

  • a brief summary of your musical experience (short notes or bullet points are fine, or send a musical CV if you have one)

  • a short recording or video of yourself singing (a phone video or voice note is fine - recordings do not need to be professionally produced)

  • your voice part (if known)

Auditions are short, informal and friendly. You will be asked to sing two short unaccompanied songs or extracts of your choosing - you may use sheet music or lyrics if required. There will then be a simple sight-singing exercise OR a listen-and-repeat exercise (sight-singing is useful but not essential) and a few questions.

Please send applications and enquiries to:
